Private Sector Collaboration with Diplomatic Missions Key for Economic Diplomacy

Kathmandu: During a discussion hosted by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), leaders highlighted the vital role of cooperation between the private sector and Nepali diplomatic missions in fostering foreign investments and bolstering exports, particularly during challenging economic times.

Foreign Minister NP Saud emphasized that the private sector plays a pivotal role in promoting exports, developing tourism, and attracting foreign investments. He encouraged Nepali ambassadors posted abroad to collaborate closely with the private sector for the nation's development, underscoring the need for both domestic and foreign investments.

Former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi suggested that diplomatic missions broaden their horizons and collaborate with the private sector to enhance economic diplomacy endeavors.

Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal suggested approaching multilateral organizations to expand economic diplomacy and noted the private sector's responsibility to diversify commodities and target markets.

Finance Secretary Arjun Pokhrel assured that the government would allocate a budget to support the expansion of economic diplomacy.

These discussions underline the significance of fostering cooperation between the public and private sectors to promote Nepal's economic interests on the global stage and attract foreign investments.
